Tom Hiddleston's cheekiness and Chris Hemsworth's brute force equals Box Office success for Thor 2

Newsgist-What's clear regarding the cast in 'Thor: The Dark World' is just how alluring its main characters are. I am of course referring to Tom Hiddleston's Loki and Chris Hemsworth's mighty Thor. Both have their dedicated, mildly obsessed followers: Hiddleston's coin themselves Hiddlestoners, whereas the muscularly-defined Norse God has amassed a huge, separate fan base of his own.
Give 'Em What They Want

Loki's Army (of fans) get to see his flamboyant, cheeky and cocky demeanour as Loki almost feature as the central character for the first half of the film. Then there's the undeniable physical presence of Chris Hemsworth's powerful voice and beefed-up torso that, at one point, gets a gratuitous, slow-panning shot without his shirt on.
The appeal of either actor is contrasting: Hiddleston oozes a cheeky, whimsy charm that makes Loki the villain we love-to-hate. The fan base has grown due to his on-and-off-screen appearances, where during the numerous TV appearances on chat shows (including Graham Norton last week) we see what a thoroughly nice chap he is in real-life. Svelte and dapper-looking in his fitted suit, it's no surprise that audiences take to him regardless of his despicable antics within the Marvel universe.
Hemsworth, on the other hand, has a more rugged handsomeness about him. He's also likely to appeal more towards the female demographic by the fact he's noticeably bulked up in size for the role - it's hard not to affix one's gaze on the sheer girth of those biceps.
Clash of the Siblings
Loki and Thor have never seen eye-to-eye, but it's their dual on-screen presence and opposing characters that set the screen alight (not literally, obviously). Loki walks a fine line between playful and sadistic (if there is such a thing), with an unquenchable desire to rule Asgard. Thor, on the other hand, has matured as a character since the first outing and has settled into a path leading towards his destiny. That said, with his assured thinking comes his unquestionable brutish strength -- well what else would you expect from a God of Thunder?
Brothers In Arms
When on-screen together, the pair are extremely watchable. The script deserves praise as well, because it's an air-tight, 90-minute story that's consistent in wit, humour and sincerity. Their brotherly dynamic is captivating: Loki's pretty androgyny and charming nature juxtapose with Thor's chiselled, muscle frame and authoritative approach that ignite the scenes they share but also clash wonderfully.
Have you seen 'Thor: The Dark World' yet? What do you think of the on-screen sibling rivalry?
